Role Qualifications:

  • Must be able to perform duties associated with Fabricator-1 job description.
  • Must be able to assist the Supervisor in improving working conditions (safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.

Position Summary: An entry-level Fabricator-1 position responsible for the fabrication of basic steel components. This position performs a variety of tasks requiring exceptional skill, accuracy, efficiency, safe machine, and tool operation while fabricating and welding. Tasks and job assignments require planning and organization sufficient to perform at a high level of effectiveness on a variety of equipment. Must have solid reading and comprehension skillset, strong fabrication experience, be competent in the use of a variety of measuring devices, and skilled in shop math computations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure work is performed according to Documentation, Drawings, Engineering Standards Quality Manual Standards, and (GMP) Good Manufacturing Practices. Translate general work requirements into a prioritized work plan.
  • Assemble and weld basic structural and non-structural components with minimal guidance or mistakes and follows through with non-conformance processes and resolutions.
  • Perform pre and post-fabrication material preparation, grinding, sanding, scraping, layout, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to welding using various measuring devices and fixtures.
  • Ensure the welder is set to achieve quality sound welds and operates other equipment correctly.
  • Daily records and submits detailed work order notes and enters and tracks time spent on jobs.
  • Display a professional attitude and have respectful working relationships amongst co-workers at all times
  • Must assist others in the tasks of fitting and welding and be able to work well without supervision.
  • Ensure that he/she follows the safety rules, safety procedures, and all company rules, policies, and procedures around his/her department and encourages others as well.
  • Make sure that cleanliness of machines and the work area in his/her department, maintaining and up keeping facility, property, and equipment. Utilize workspace to be most effective and efficient manner.
  • Perform different miscellaneous tasks that are instructed by the supervisor or management.

Qualification/Requirements:

  • Preferred education, a high school diploma or GED or equivalent highly desired.
  • Must have experience in the metal processing industry and strong working knowledge with metal fabrication, tools, equipment, and machinery such as Ironworkers, drill press, saw, overhead crane, and jib cranes.
  • Must be able to communicate and work well with others have good oral/written communication skills and basic math skills.
  • Must have all fabrication tools for the trade, and must be able to read and decipher job order forms.
  • Prefer a certification and a minimum of 2 years in the welding steel and fabrication environment. Robot operating experience preferred, but will train.
  • Able to analyze information gathered in order to identify potential problems or discrepancies.
  • Demonstrates ability to be detail-oriented and pay close attention to accuracy and verbal directions
  • Must be able to read and understand all symbols, blueprints, and engineering fabrication drawings, verbal instruction, and work with sketches or samples at a high level of competency
  • Demonstrate ability to weld various metals and ability to weld with (FCAW) Flux-Core Arc Welding, (GMAW) Gas Metal Arc Welding and able to set machines to perform quality, sound welds.
  • Must be proficient in the operation of all necessary equipment and use of various power tools, saws, Ironworkers, punches, torches, portable plasma, sanders, sheers, and able to perform minor equipment repairs.
  • Demonstrate efficiencies when cutting straight lines, shapes, and bevels on various materials, using manual and automatic equipment.
  • Ability to run Oxy-Fuel, Plasma Arc Cutting, and Carbon Arc Cutting equipment machine and scarfing tip for weld removal with minimal parent metal removal.
  • Has knowledge of current AWS D1.1 welding codes and procedures which cover structural steel welding, be familiar with consumables, and already has or can pass 3G FCAW tests.
  • Must be punctual and display good attendance and be able to work at least 40 hrs per week, in addition, be available to work overtime when necessary.
  • Must be able to pass forklift certification and have a valid ODL is preferred
  • Excellent eyesight and color vision, good dexterity, and physical stamina.

This position requires stooping, pushing, moving, and reaching overhead and requires the ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
Occasional work outside in various weather conditions.
This position requires working near moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and moderate noise levels.
