Job Title: Welder A
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Welder A to join our fabrication team. The Welder A is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining welding equipment to join metal parts according to specifications and engineering drawings. This position plays a key role in producing high-quality welds and ensuring product integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform welding operations including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding on various metals (steel, stainless steel, aluminum).
Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and welding symbols to determine welding requirements.
Set up and operate welding equipment, including adjusting settings and selecting appropriate welding materials.
Inspect completed welds for quality and conformance to specifications.
Use measuring tools and gauges to ensure accurate dimensions and weld alignment.
Perform grinding, cutting, and other metal preparation tasks as needed.
Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition.
Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and quality standards.
Perform other duties as assigned to support shop operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and work instructions.
Familiarity with welding codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME).
Skilled in using grinders, cutting torches, and other metal fabrication tools.
Strong attention to detail and ability to inspect weld quality.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various positions (standing, bending, kneeling).
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Commitment to following safety procedures and wearing required PPE.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required.
Completion of a welding certification or vocational program preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a welder in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
Working Conditions:
Work performed in a production environment with exposure to heat, noise, and welding fumes.
Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including welding helmets, gloves, and protective clothing.
Frequent standing, lifting, and physical work involved.
