General Description The Security Manager for the Toyota Center and Houston Rockets is responsible for overseeing and executing all security operations across the venue, including event and non-event days.
This role ensures the safety and security of all guests, team members, players, VIPs, and property. This position is a strategic leader with experience in large-scale venue security, emergency preparedness, and crowd management. The Security Manager works closely with arena operations, NBA security, law enforcement, and other stakeholders to uphold a safe and welcoming environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES Include But Are Not Limited To - Develop, implement, and enforce security protocols for the Toyota Center and Houston Rockets organization.
- Manage a team of security personnel, including scheduling, training, performance reviews, and staffing for events and games.
- Coordinate closely with NBA league security, local law enforcement, and emergency services.
- Oversee access control, credentialing, and surveillance systems to ensure appropriate levels of protection for players, staff, and VIPs.
- Lead all incident response efforts including investigations, documentation, reporting, and follow-ups.
- Conduct risk assessments and threat evaluations for events, concerts, games, and other high-profile activities.
- Assist in planning and executing crowd management strategies to ensure efficient ingress, egress, and emergency evacuation procedures.
- Ensure all operations comply with NBA, local, state, and federal safety and security regulations.
- Develop and maintain emergency preparedness and crisis response plans.
- Manage security-related budgets, vendor relationships, and equipment maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Security Management, Emergency Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive security management experience, preferably in a large event venue, sports arena, or entertainment facility.
- Experience working with professional sports teams or leagues is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills; capable of managing large teams and high- pressure situations.
- In-depth knowledge of security technologies including CCTV, metal detection, access control, and incident management systems.
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and during events.
- Strong working relationships with law enforcement and public safety agencies.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Physical & Mental Requirements - The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use handle or feel, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, communicate with others.
- The vision requirement includes the ability to review written and electronic materials in both digital and physical format.
- The employee must be able to transfer and move items for departmental needs weighing up to 50 pounds.
- The employee must be able to adjust to changing work hours and locations as needed including nights weekends and Holidays.
