Overview

We’re seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with deep expertise in pathology lab operations and dermatopathology expansion. This contract role is ideal for a seasoned professional who understands the clinical, regulatory, operational, and financial considerations of launching and scaling pathology labs—and who can translate that knowledge into actionable input for our client’s executive team.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise CWH Advisors and our client on the clinical, operational, regulatory, and financial aspects of pathology lab development.
• Provide guidance on CLIA/CAP accreditation processes and compliance readiness.
• Share practical insights on laboratory workflows, staffing models, and diagnostic quality assurance.
• Assess reimbursement trends, payer dynamics, and financial considerations for pathology services.
• Contribute expertise to the business case for dermatopathology expansion.
• Translate technical and regulatory requirements into clear, actionable recommendations for non-clinical stakeholders.

What You Bring

• 10+ years of experience in pathology lab operations, with direct exposure to dermatopathology preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of CLIA/CAP accreditation standards and regulatory pathways
• Proven track record advising or leading lab build-outs, expansions, or operational transformations.
• Strong understanding of reimbursement models, payor dynamics, and financial implications for pathology services.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge clinical and business perspectives.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives.
• This SME role is advisory in nature; candidates do not need to serve as future lab director.
