Work with a purpose! Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the Otero County Prison in Chaparral, New Mexico. We provide a safe and secure working environment for our staff while helping those in our custody prepare for success upon release.
Position Summary:
Reports to the supervisor, maintenance. Responsible for duties involving HVAC equipment and recovery, general maintenance of facility grounds and repairs of equipment and buildings, assisting with technical trades such as plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry in compliance with MTC and customer directives.
Essential Functions:
Performs maintenance and repair of electrical systems, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning. Recommended contacted assistance when on-sight repair is not possible.
Perform preventive maintenance checks of building and equipment.
Monitor tool inventory.
Perform routine scheduled checks of air conditioning and heating systems.
Promote on-call support in emergency situations or equipment breakdowns.
Supervise and utilize qualified inmate labor.
Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
Maintain accountability of staff, students and property; adhere to safety practices.
It is expected the incumbent will perform other duties as assigned within his/her scope of work as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent, technical training and general knowledge of repair/maintenance of air conditioning and heaters units, plus three (3) years related experience and HVAC certification license in the State of Texas or New Mexico is required. Valid driver's license in the State of Texas or New Mexico with an acceptable driving record required unless waived by management.
Post Hire Qualifications and Training Requirements:
Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements maintain appropriate facility clearance.
