Cost Accountant | Hudsonville, MI

Salary Range: $66,000 - $99,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain standard costs for materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead.
• Analyze manufacturing variances (material, labor, overhead) and provide explanations for management.
• Manage inventory costing and valuation, including work-in-process and finished goods.
• Prepare detailed cost reports, profitability analyses, and cost-benefit studies.
• Assist in the annual budget process, specifically for production costs and cost of goods sold.
• Identify and recommend cost reduction opportunities and process improvements within manufacturing.
• Reconcile inventory accounts and ensure the accuracy of cost data in the ERP system.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation methods.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and their impact on cost drivers.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for presenting complex cost data.
• Advanced experience with SAP CO, Oracle Manufacturing, or similar Tier 1 ERP costing modules.
• Knowledge of supply chain management principles and their impact on manufacturing costs.
